About Us
Emerald Coast NeuroFeedback

Emerald Coast NeuroFeedback was established in July 2021, making neurofeedback available to anyone wanting to optimize their brain for their best life.
Pamela Downey, MS, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and founder of Emerald Coast NeuroFeedback, has worked with clients utilizing neurofeedback since 2015, while working with neurofeedback therapy as part of a wellness based inpatient program.
After seeing life changing improvements in hundreds of clients across a broad range of issues, Pamela made neurofeedback therapy available in her private practice (www.PamelaDowneyCounseling.com) for the first time in 2017.
Over the next several years the greater need for neurofeedback as a stand-alone service in the panhandle of Florida became evident, with client after client seeing significant improvement in anxiety, depression, PTSD, and trauma related experiences.
As Pamela continued seeing these clients for therapy, improvements in their overall mental health and the positive impact biofeedback training was having on their daily lives were notable. Not only did they see improvement with the initial issue (e.g., anxiety, depression PTSD), but shared success stories related to their work, relationships, inner thoughts, self-confidence, and improved sleep.
Neurofeedback had demonstrated its place in mental health care, supporting therapy, but it became clear that it had even broader applications to wellness and overall quality of life.
Emerald Coast Neurofeedback in Pensacola included clients driving up to an hour from neighboring cities such as Crestview and Fort Walton Beach, in search of a reputable neurofeedback provider. This led to Emerald Coast NeuroFeedback opening a second location to serve those in the Fort Walton Beach area in September of 2022.

Why Emerald Coast NeuroFeedback?
Licensed Therapists
Life experiences, environment, and other factors can affect our mental wellbeing and day-to-day performance. At Emerald Coast NeuroFeedback every client works with a licensed therapist with clinical experience. Your licensed therapist understands the most important step of any therapy process is the initial evaluation and identifying your specific needs.
Experience
Emerald Coast NeuroFeedback therapists have extensive training and experience with the neurofeedback software used with clients. They have overseen thousands of neurofeedback sessions in northwest Florida. This includes kids and adults with symptoms ranging from attention, anxiety, depression, PTSD, brain injuries, sleep issues and stroke recovery. Hundreds of clients have benefited from their knowledge and professionalism in providing neurofeedback therapy.
The Emerald Coast NeuroFeedback Process
The process starts with a thorough evaluation by a licensed therapist using innovative software. This allows Emerald Coast NeuroFeedback to generate a customized evidence-based protocol focused on your individual needs. There is no expensive brain scan to get started. Your evaluation will identify the different symptoms, goals, and growth areas created for improvement during your neurofeedback sessions.
Consistent & Measurable Results
Emerald Coast NeuroFeedback uses measurable results in life improvements rather than just changes in brainwaves (compared to other neurofeedback systems). Unlike some of the do-it-yourself home devices on the market, a therapist will closely monitor your progress throughout your sessions, re-evaluating when appropriate. Re-evaluations determine changes to your growth areas and/or protocol when needed. It is not uncommon to have clients maximize benefits for a growth area and create new growth area(s).
Long Lasting Results
In contrast to medication, neurofeedback does not lose effectiveness upon completion of your sessions. The brain is command central. Neurofeedback trains the brain to stabilize itself and function optimally. The benefits of neurofeedback are long lasting.
